Instagram and Pinterest

Canva

Meet Mr LifeOnFIREWith Canva, you can create and edit amazing images online, for free! With this tool, you get templates, free royalty free photos, ability to upload brand resources, a widget library, and more. I started using it for free and later upgraded to a paid version so I could use the resize feature. This makes it easy to design once and quickly resize to use on another platform. My workflow is typically to create designs on Pinterest first and then click resize so I have a square version that’s ready to go for Instagram. They have an awesome mobile app as well, which you can use to create and download your IG posts on the go!

Tailwind

Tailwind ExampleTailwind has a free Instagram and Pinterest scheduler that will help you be more consistent in your content publishing and expand your reach! In addition it has powerful analytics features that help you to analyze your reach and see which pins and posts gained the most traction with your audience. Additionally, the hashtag feature for Instagram can take the guesswork out of deciding which hashtags will be the most effective. It does this by providing a color coded indication of how competitive each hashtag is! For Pinterest there is a very powerful feature called tribes that you can use to help expand your reach. With Tribes, you can post pins and allow others in the tribe to re-pin them for you, expanding your reach. There are many other features, but the last I’ll mention is one of my favorites. The Instagram description editor allows you to use bold and italics, which helps you emphasize key points, calls to action, as well as stand out from the crowd. This is perhaps the feature most people ask me about:

Tracking Expenses

Mint is an expense, net worth, budget tracking software by Intuit (makers of Turbo Tax).  I have used mint for several years and what’s nice about it is its ability to connect with and download transactions from all your financial accounts. With all the data in one place, you can easily categorize, perform trend analysis and more. Once you have a sense for your monthly expenses, you can estimate your FI number. Use the Mint.com net worth tracker to keep up with your progress towards your FI number!

Getting out of Debt

If you have tracked and analyzed your expenses and you realize your debt is putting FI out of reach you may want to focus on your debt first. I taught Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University course for seven years and I firmly believe there is no-one better on the planet to help you with that step. My wife and I paid off over $230k in under seven years utilizing his methodology. Here a the link to a home study kit:
